About Helen 

More than 33 years ago, my family and I moved from Montreal to Richmond because we believed it was the best place to raise our children. Richmond has been our home ever since, and I have been proud to watch our community grow and thrive.

Both of my sons graduated from Richmond public schools, giving me first-hand experience as a Richmond parent and a deep appreciation for the vital role that strong public education plays in every child's future.

My commitment to Richmond began as a volunteer at Mount St. Joseph Hospital and has grown into more than 30 years of community leadership and public service. Throughout that time, I have worked to support community organizations, advocate for youth, families, seniors, and newcomers, organize educational, cultural, and charitable initiatives, raise funds for community programs, and promote volunteerism, multicultural inclusion, and civic engagement.

I have been honoured to serve with organizations including the Metro Vancouver Volunteer Association, the Richmond Mandarin Lions Club, Richmond 32 Scouts, the Richmond Sister City Advisory Committee, the Richmond RCMP Multicultural Advisory Committee, St. John Ambulance, and the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. These experiences have strengthened my belief that when schools, families, volunteers, businesses, and community organizations work together, we create better opportunities for every child.

As your Richmond School Trustee, I will bring the same commitment, integrity, and collaborative leadership that have guided my service for more than three decades. I am committed to listening to families, supporting students, and working with our community to build an inclusive, accountable, and high-quality public education system where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Professional Background

Helen brings more than 40 years of business, executive management, and administrative experience to the trustee role.

As a Richmond parent whose two children grew up and graduated from Richmond public schools, Helen understands the school system through her work, community service, and lived experience as a parent.

She began her career with Le Wok International Restaurant Group, managing multi-location operations, budgets, and staff, and later served in leadership roles with consulting firms focused on strategic planning and organizational development.

Today, she is a Manager at My Media Ltd., overseeing the administration of vocational training programs.

For more than 30 years, Helen has also served on non-profit boards with responsibilities in financial oversight, policy development, and governance, experience directly relevant to the role of a School Trustee.

Helen’s community service over 30 years has been recognized through the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and the Ethel Tibbits Woman of Distinction Award, among other honours for volunteer leadership, youth development, and service to Richmond.
